Posture ByStudioM - Optimising Performance through Postural Alignment

Rosie - Dancer

A correction I had been stuck with for a while was about my tension in my neck and shoulders, however, after these simple but effective exercises I was able to relax that area and not only did I see a difference but so did my teachers. Therefore, any dancer who is struggling to figure out what’s not quite working I would definitely recommend this.

Sophie - Dancer & Choreographer

As a dancer there is nothing more important to me than my body and maximising its potential. Although in training you learn about the most common ways to look after your body and you’re told to have correct alignment and posture you’re never given the tools or understanding as to why. I was fortunate enough to work with Maral and the Egosque Method and discovered how my incorrect alignment was underusing and overusing the incorrect muscles.

Tracy

I am so pleased with the results following this Egoscue method of postural alignment. I am without pain for the first time in many many years

About Us

I am a passionate Egoscue trained Postural Alignment Therapist at ByStudioM. Committed to optimizing performance and preventing injuries for dancers and athletes. Dedicated to helping individuals achieve peak physical and mental well-being through personalized holistic approaches.

My passion for posture and postural alignment started when my daughter wanted to become a dancer and I wanted to understand why dancers were so different in their abilities, after all, we all have the same building blocks. I now understand how we stand, walk, move is not genetic but as a result of our inbuilt mechanism to mimic those around us whether they be parents, wider family or even friends.

Eventually I discovered Pete Egoscue's book, Pain Free, and finally started to really understand how we are supposed to be and that over time, perhaps because of injury but definitely because of  lifestyle, our mobility becomes compromised so we move less and hurt more. Of course, we put our aches and pains down to getting old, perhaps get hip or knee replacements and wonder why we still have aches and pains albeit elsewhere in our bodies. And yet, with simple but highly powerful exercises we can all reverse much of the posture misalignments which lead to pain and regain much of our mobility, pain free.

Having spent the last three years helping young and older, I really want to concentrate on helping dancers, sportsmen and athletes understand posture, it's place as an essential tool on their journey to achieve their full potential and avoid injury

Our Clients Say

Teen Ballet Dancer_edited_edited_edited.jpg
I’m a dancer and for me I believe making sure my body is at its full potential is my top priority. I was lucky enough to work with Maral and in this time she showed me a lot about my alignment/posture and how I had been using my body and muscles incorrectly. The first time seeing Maral I did a postural assessment where she was able to figure out what exercises to use specifically for me to strengthen the muscles I needed and wasn’t previously using as well as improving my posture, as that was part of the issue. During those exercises I felt challenged as I was made to use those muscles I wasn’t using correctly before, all exercises not only made a difference physically but I also felt a difference and felt as though the muscles I was now using were stronger. I did these exercises daily, as I was able to, and over time I saw quick improvements and was shocked as with these improvements I found my dancing had changed a huge amount, my turn out had increased as well as my flexibility and posture.
